Discovery Air Technical Services (DATS) is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO 23-10) with a wide range of capabilities. We are authorized to perform maintenance and modifications on all U.S. registered aircraft as listed in the U.S./Canada bilateral agreement (Ref. CFR 43.17) and under EASA 145 (European Aviation Safety Agency).
Our History and Mission

GSH and Air Tindi provide an essential service to many of their customers as access to and movement at the majority of their customers’ locations are only possible via aircraft. This includes the movement and transport of people, freight, equipment and essential supplies. Discovery Mining builds custom solutions for many of these customers as well. Top Aces and Discovery Air Fire Services provide essential services to their customers in the form of cost-effective government outsourced aviation service solutions.

- 2006: Discovery Air completes a highly successful initial public offering.
- 2006: Discovery Air acquires Great Slave Helicopters on June 20th.
- 2006: Discovery Air acquires Air Tindi on December 19th.
- 2007: Discovery Air purchases Wheel Division Assets of Walsten Air Service on March 14th.
- 2007: Discovery Air acquires Top Aces on August 24th.
- 2008: Discovery Air acquires Discovery Mining Services on January 1st
- 2010: Discovery Air announces commencement of operations at DATS.
- 2011: Discovery Air announces launch of new subsidiary, Discovery Air Innovations Inc.

As part of the initiative to re-brand Hicks & Lawrence’s Fire Services, this new Discovery Air Fire Services logo wll begin appearing on H&L’s detection, birddog and fire transport aircraft during the upcoming season.

A division dedicated to Air Charter Services and a Fire Division. The Air Charter Services division is operated by Walsten Air, a company wholly owned by Discovery Air Fire Services.

The Northlinx Network brings together many of the Great Slave Helicopters Aboriginal Joint-Venture Partnerships allowing all participants to benefit from pan-territorial mega-projects requiring helicopter services in the North. Presently there are thirteen partnerships operating in this profitable model around the NWT and Nunavut, including Denendeh Helicopters, Dehcho Regional Helicopters, Sahtu Helicopters, Kitikmeot Helicopters, Gwich’in Helicopters, Havgun Helicopters, Kivalliq Aviation, Tlicho Helicopters, Akaitcho Helicopters and Auyuittuq Aviation. Flight operations for Northlinx are conducted by Great Slave Helicopters, with the exceptions of Sahtu Helicopters, Denendeh Helicopters, Superior Helicopters and Hudson Bay Helicopters, that conduct flight operations under their own operating certificate.
