Discovery Air Inc. was incorporated on November 12, 2004 by Pacific & Western Bank of Canada to provide a vehicle for consolidation of Canada 's profitable niche aviation companies. It acquired 100% of Hicks & Lawrence, a niche aviation company that provides aerial forest fire services to the Ontario Government and on April 10, 2006 it was listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and then later migrated to the TSX. On June 20, 2006 it acquired Great Slave Helicopters Ltd (GSHL). GSHL is the second largest rotary wing operator in Canada and has a dominant market share in Northern and Western Canada . On December 19, 2006 Discovery Air acquired Air Tindi which operates a diversified fleet of 24 fixed wing aircraft providing air ambulance, cargo and scheduled flying in Canada's North. On March 14, 2007 Discovery Air Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary Hicks & Lawrence Limited, completed the purchase of the wheel division of Walsten Air Service (1986) Ltd., including a fleet of four Beech King Air aircraft, hangar facility located in Kenora, Ontario and intangibles related to the business. On August 24, 2007, Discovery Air acquired Top Aces Inc., an approved supplier to the Canadian federal government of airborne training services to the Department of National Defence. On January 4, 2008, Discovery Air acquired Discovery Mining Services, a leading provider of remote exploration camps, expediting, logistics and staking to a broad spectrum of gold, base metal, uranium, and diamond exploration companies.
