... that Air Tindi's bush pilot Darcy Milkowski was featured in the April/May 2010 edition of up here magazine? He was included in an article by Katherine Sandiford called 10 Northern Jobs You Wish Were Yours. The article features 10 people with dream jobs from Northern Canada and Darcy couldn't agree more. "You can go anywhere. Just pick a spot in the middle of the tundra and you can land there, on skis, on floats or on tires. It's amazing." A complete version of Darcy's excerpt will be included in the May edition of Flight Plan.
... that Mark Allan, one of Air Tindi's customers, built and hand-painted a model of a Piston Single Otter. In 2005 he flew to De Beers Site Kennady Lake in one of Air Tindi's Twin Otters to visit his father and decided to make a model to remind him of these fond memories. Mark remembers "the excellent crew of people working [for Discovery Air]" and cannot wait to get back up to Yellowknife again sometime to "check out the real version of the model [he] built."

... that DA has a number of employees who are related to each other. At Top Aces, maintenance runs in the Noreau family, as Steeve and Carol together with their dad Marc all work on the Alpha Jet and Westwind aircraft. Marc is affectionately known as "Papa Noreau."
... that The Directors College of McMaster University's DeGroote School of Business has an annual award for a graduate of The Directors College who demonstrates dedication to raising the bar for professional standards in corporate governance, both through their work in the Chartered Director program and in their experience as directors. This award is named after Discovery Air's Chairman, Gil Bennett, and is called the "Gilbert Bennett Gold Standard Award."
... that 3 Top Aces pilots, Shawn "Burner" Byrne, Jeff "Beck" Beckett and Steve "Bunt" Nierlich have over 3000 hours of flying time in the F-18 Hornet. Bunt was the only one to get all of his hours on the CF-18, both Burner and Beck completed exchange tours with the US.
... where Air Tindi gets its name. Tindi means "big lake" in Dogrib and the Dogrib Tli Cho people have always been one of our loyal customers.

… that Fred Carmichael, an associate of Discovery Air, was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada in 2008 for his contributions and achievements as an Aboriginal leader, businessman and volunteer, as well as a committed and untiring advocate of autonomy for Native people. Lyall received the same honour in 2003 for championing Inuit business initiatives to create and expand economic development in northern communities.
