The Flight Follower’s primary role is to assist in organization of the daily flight schedule, booking flights, organizing and assisting with ground support for departing and arriving aircraft, keep relevant personnel informed with trip information, attend the phones, attend the radio and co-ordinate with customers and other departments to ensure all flights depart and arrive safely.
Flight log data entry;
Flight Crew check-in/checkout;
Coordination of charter flights;
Investigate and code delays of all flights;
Maintenance of on-time performance data;
Forward departure/arrival times to customers;
Radio communications with ramp and aircraft;
NWT and Nunavut (Kitikmeot) Medical Travel Coordination;
Answer, direct and resolve crew or ground operations calls into the Systems Operations Control (SOC) Centre;
Monitor all day-of operations flights and communicate delays, irregularities or any changes of flight operations to customers, ramp personnel and maintenance;
Continuous flight following of all company flights;
Entry of aircraft times into operations board
Tracking flights utilizing satellite tracking software
Certificate of Proficiency in Radio – Restricted Operator – Aeronautical;
Proven ability to work in a high stress environment;
Ability to make critical decisions with limited information;
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Every year, residents of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut pursuing an aviation-related career in the North can each receive one of 16 $5,000 scholarships from a fund sponsored by the NWT Department of Transportation, Nunavut Department of Economic Development and Transportation, Discovery Air, Keewatin Air, North-Wright Airways, and First Air. The scholarships are offered to full-time residents of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (two year minimum residency - a combination of continuous residency in both territories would be accepted to meet the residency requirement) pursuing full-time aviation-related studies. The studies can be related to airline or airport operations or management, aircraft maintenance, and pilot training.
