We have an immediate opening for a Facilities and Vehicle Fleet Maintainer at our new facility at the Springbank airport. Primary responsibilities include performing general maintenance of company assets in the form of vehicles, real estate, facilities and aviation fuel bases in a safe, efficient and appropriate manner. Maintain HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment. Coordinate the day to day operation of maintenance activities.
Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to; mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of company facilities and wheeled equipment fleet;
Upkeep and preservation of GSH grounds, including landscaping and snow removal;
Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives;
Complete regular preventive maintenance on daily equipment and facilities such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, emergency lighting;
Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions;
Execute a variety of maintenance and quality control functions such as replacing aviation fuel filters, air filters, pumps and hoses;
Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work;
Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for facilities and vehicle fleet maintenance;
Responsible for monthly facility safety inspections in accordance with governing regulations;
Maintain inventory of helicopter operational gear;
Other duties assigned by Central Regional Manager – Operations.
High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and Facilities and/or Vehicle Coordination experience;
Experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings with progressively responsible, relevant experience would be considered an asset;
Highly motivated and able to work independently with ability to multi-task and establish priorities;
Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation including NSC vehicle and fleet maintenance;
Knowledge and experience with NSC, vehicle and fleet maintenance;
Valid First Aid Certificate;
Previous TDG certificates, Air and Ground an asset;
Possess a valid driver’s license;
Knowledge and experience in Aviation fuel systems an asset.

Every year, residents of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut pursuing an aviation-related career in the North can each receive one of 16 $5,000 scholarships from a fund sponsored by the NWT Department of Transportation, Nunavut Department of Economic Development and Transportation, Discovery Air, Keewatin Air, North-Wright Airways, and First Air. The scholarships are offered to full-time residents of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (two year minimum residency - a combination of continuous residency in both territories would be accepted to meet the residency requirement) pursuing full-time aviation-related studies. The studies can be related to airline or airport operations or management, aircraft maintenance, and pilot training.
